Cleveron’s PackRobots are one reason behind Walmart’s e-commerce success / Forbes

17.08.2018 | Walmart, PACKROBOT

Forbes reports that Walmart's e-commerce tactics against Amazon look to be paying off. Walmart’s 2018 Q2 results showed its best quarterly comparable sales in more than ten years when revenue rose 3.8% to $128.03 billion. The key number was 40% growth in online sales, which may be attributed to the company’s new omnichannel initiatives, like the Pickup Towers.

Walmart president and CEO Doug McMillon said that the company is providing customers with new levels of shopping convenience. He added that Walmart continues to bring digital capabilities to stores to deliver a seamless experience for customers however they choose to shop.

Forbes points out that in the past two years, Walmart has added hundreds of Cleveron's PackRobots or the Pickup Towers for customers to pick up online orders of general merchandise. This move is designed not only to help cut shipping costs but also to drive traffic inside stores and potentially spur other in-store purchases.

Walmart piloted Cleveron’s 5 m/16 feet high PackRobots in 2016 and by the end of 2018, the giant “pickup towers” will be in 700 Walmart’s stores across the USA.
